NIGHT OF GALA FOR RADIO VICTORIA
RADIO VICTORIA IS AWARDED A PRIZE BY THE PRESIDENT´S COMMUNICATIONS SECRETARY
March 1, 2012
El Salvador's National Radio celebrated it's 86 anniversary by paying tribute to many historic Salvadoran radio personalities. In a special ceremony, the President of the Republic´s Communications' Secretary presented recognitions to 10 outstanding radio voices who have made important contributions to the development of radio broadcasting in El Salvador. Three radio stations were also recognized for their work.
Leonardo Heredia, a radio broadcasting legend in El Salvador who was also director of the National Radio, responded to his award by saying that right now "a path is being made that all past National Radio directors would have liked to follow at some time: to convert the National Radio into a public station, a state station that belongs to everyone and not just the Presidential House", he said.
Oscar Beltrán, a member of Radio Victoria's team, said that the award recognizing our work "is an important detail because it says that community radio is contributing a lot to communications media in our country. It is a challenge for authorities to carry out legislation for community radios and community media in general", he added.
Radio Victoria was recognized for being the principal citizens´voice against metallic mining, a situation that has caused constant harassment to Radio team members who also receive frequent threats against their lives. (Roberto Flores of the Co-Latino).
Oscar Beltrán: “Before any other commentary, Radio Victoria wants to dedicate this award to our wonderful audience who every day is listening to our programming. Also to the NGOs like ADES (Social and Economic Developement Association), for all their contributions to our project. This could not be a reality without your support and the accompanyment of our communities."
“This is an award for Radio Victoria but especially for everyone that listens to the radio, because without all of you we would not be a radio. That's why this is for you.
"Secondly, this is a recognition for community radio in El Salvador, for the Association of Participative Radios and Programs of El Salvador, ARPAS, and it is a call to all the legislators to once and for all work to pass a special law for radio and television that includes community radio.
"The threats have changed our way of living, changed how we are with our families, with our friends and with our audience. They have changed the way we do our work. But what they have not been able to change is our committment to continue making radio with our communities."
YOU ARE RADIO VICTORIA.
There were 3 radios awarded recognitions: the YSKL, Radio Izcanal and of course, Radio Victoria and we dedicate this award to all our RadioListeners.
THANK YOU FOR PREFERRING RADIO VICTORIA.
